Zach Wynn

Mobile Recovery Peer Specialist

At just 25, Zach Wynn has not only sustained his own recovery from substance use but has also discovered a passion for helping others navigate their recovery journeys. Recognizing addiction as a family disease, Zach draws on lessons learned from his early childhood, where the duality of addiction and recovery were prominent in his life.
While studying Political Science at the University of Central Florida and being a live music enthusiast, Zach learned the importance of community, activism, and connection with like-minded people. He is actively involved in the Orlando recovery community, which has deepened his commitment to service and paying kindness forward.
Zach’s journey to recovery began at a low point when he felt hopeless. A pivotal moment came when another person in recovery showed him a different way—a network of individuals who embodied the life he desired. By emulating those he looked up to in recovery, Zach utilized the tools he learned, eventually leading him to become employable and live a fulfilling life. He transformed his existence from one marked by sleepless nights, emergency room visits, and legal troubles to a life filled with passion for exercise, nature, travel, and meaningful connections.
Having found recovery at a young age, Zach understands the external pressures that can challenge young people in sustaining their recovery. He recognizes how a lack of self-actualization can lead to an endless cycle of desperation. Through his recovery, he has discovered his individuality and found his voice in the world. This inspiration drives him to leverage his newfound skills to assist his Central Florida community. As a recovery peer specialist, Zach draws from his own experiences and connects with the nuances of individuals’ stories, enabling him to support them effectively.
